Installing Linux on Windows with VMWare

Part #1

Download VMware for Windows and install it:

Part #2

Download a ISO image of Linux:

Part #3

Start the VMware program and select “Create a New Virtual Machine” and select “Installer Disk Image File (iso)”, and then select the Ubuntu Mate ISO file downloaded in Part #2. Install Linux.

Part #4

After Linux is booted, go in the “Systems” menu and choose “Administration”, and choose “Software Boutique”. Within Software Boutique, click on “Other Software”, and install the program “Synaptic Package Manager”.

Part #5

Go in the “Systems” menu, choose “Administration”, and start “Synaptic Package Manager”. In Synaptic, search for the software “paraview” and “gnuplot” and install them.
